At first glance, everyone will associate the virus that suddenly and unexpectedly changed our lives this year.

In fact, this picture is about the "tolerance virus" - a virus that is supposed to spread tolerance. The Berlin artist Kirsten Klöckner already painted this wish for APROTO in 2016, and she is symbolically holding it up on the front page of her wishes calendar 2021.

Knowing that tolerance has not really improved in our country and around the world since then and that a completely different virus is holding us under control, we are giving you this hand-signed and numbered copy of the APROTO special edition "Wishes 2021" today.

We humans are true beings of deficiency. We almost lack everything that lets us survive in this hostile world. So we are always busy to put our powers and our minds to the things we are missing. Most of us quite successfully.

When strength and understanding are not enough, we need the help of third parties. For this reason, we usually address our wishes, or requests to them on the occasion of a festivity. Such wishes are not only directed to relatives or friends. Even fantasy beings get to be addressees of such needs.

As children we wrote wish lists to Santa Claus or the Christ Child, and wishes that turned into a prayer are presented to remind God of his duties, which he neglected because of other tasks.

Fairy tales from a time when wishing still helped, tell of miraculous fulfillment of wishes, but also warn of outrageous desires and the punishments that followed them. The fisherman and his wife fall back into their old misery, and the fabled King Midas is in danger of starvation as all he touched, turns to gold as desired.

Wishes are not just selfish. We like to wish loved ones all the best for the new year, sick people soon recovery. "Good morning" is an everyday wish “Shalom” one such in Israel. But where the good is to be found, the bad also lurks. Then a fellow human being is wished for the loss of all teeth except one for the pain.

Kirsten Klöckner asked acquaintances, strangers, friends, women, men and children to reveal their wishes to her in order to make them visible on a painting. This is how a series of artwork was created, which she executed using watercolor and pen drawing: clear lines correspond to a firework of colors. The image motifs pick up on the object of the wish - dark clouds, finally rain, Spider-App. Or they capture the wish metaphorically and thus guide the viewer's thoughts - transcendence, tranquility, hugs.

With the compilation of twelve wishes in a calendar, Kirsten Klöckner has opened a gallery that invites you to new exhibitions every month. There he experiences

There, viewers not only experience the artistic work, they are also led into the longings of other people and confront them with their own desires, which they became more aware of. 2021 will be a meaningful year.

Los humanos somos verdaderos seres de escasez. Nos falta casi todo lo que nos permite sobrevivir en este mundo hostil. Así que siempre estamos ocupados poniendo nuestro poder y nuestra mente en las cosas que nos faltan.

Kirsten Klöckner pidió a conocidos, extraños, amigos, mujeres, hombres y niños que le revelaran sus deseos para hacerlos visibles en un cuadro. Así fue como creó una serie de obras de arte, que ejecutó con acuarela y dibujo a lápiz: las líneas claras corresponden a un fuego artificial de colores.

Los motivos de la imagen recogen el objeto del deseo: nubes oscuras, finalmente lluvia, Spider-App. O capturan metafóricamente el deseo y así guía los pensamientos del espectador: trascendencia, tranquilidad, abrazos.
